The tailoring project has started because of you!

By Spiwe Chakawa | Project Leader

Dear Supporter,

Warm greetings, and thank you for supporting One Stitch at a Time: Tailoring for Young People through the GlobalGiving. Your generosity is already creating meaningful change in the lives of vulnerable young people in Harare.

We are pleased to share that in January 2026, the first group of 20 young people; mostly girls, began their tailoring lessons. They are actively learning garment construction, fabric cutting, and sewing machine operation, mastering practical skills that are preparing them for employment and income generation. Their confidence is growing with every lesson, and hope is being restored stitch by stitch.

However, we want to be transparent about where we stand. So far, we have raised $1,000 toward our $20,000 goal. While we are deeply grateful for this support, the funds are not yet enough to fully equip the project. We urgently need additional resources to:

  • Purchase more sewing machines

  • Build a simple but secure tailoring shelter

  • Enroll more vulnerable girls who are waiting for this opportunity

Right now, many young people are still at risk of unemployment, early marriages, and drug abuse simply because we lack adequate equipment and space to accommodate them.

This is where you can make an even greater impact.

If you can spare just one minute today, please share our campaign link with your friends, family, and colleagues. Invite them to join you in supporting this life-changing initiative. Your voice can help us reach the remaining $19,000 and open the door for dozens more young people.

Take action today:

  • Make an additional gift if you are able.

  • Share the campaign on WhatsApp, email, or social media.

  • Encourage just three people in your network to give.

Every dollar brings us closer to building a safe learning space, adding more machines, and transforming idle hands into skilled hands.

Together, we can stitch dignity, independence, and opportunity into the future of Zimbabwe’s young people — one life at a time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
