With your support, the project has raised USD 2,641, which is a great success and a sign of trust among supporters and donors. The amount that AWARD has received will be used to construct four toilets for needy families in the rural areas of Faisalabad.
Taj, a mother of four, lived in a small straw house on the outskirts of a rural village. For years, she and her children had no access to a toilet or clean water. Every day, Taj would take her children to the nearby fields to defecate—exposed to harsh weather, harmful insects, and the constant fear of being seen or harmed. Illnesses like diarrhea and skin infections were common in her household, especially among the children.
Life began to change when AWARD Pakistan, through its community health and sanitation initiative, reached her village. After attending awareness sessions and receiving support, Taj was selected to receive assistance in building a toilet and water access point at her home. With the help of the project team, Taj’s family now has a clean, private toilet and access to safe water.
Today, Taj speaks with pride about the small space she now calls her dignified home. Her children go to school clean and healthy, no longer battling waterborne diseases. The burden of daily fear and shame has lifted, replaced by safety, comfort, and health. For Taj, this isn’t just a toilet—it’s a transformation. It’s the first step toward a life of dignity, especially for the generations to come.
