In June 2025, gunmen attacked Yelewata, Benue State, killing over 200 people. Since then, thousands have been displaced; many now live under bridges or in motor parks. This project will provide 120 displaced Christians with one year of safe housing and initial food support. Secure shelter is the urgent first need for families who lost everything, allowing them to heal and plan their recovery without the fear of homelessness.
Survivors of the Yelewata massacre and other attacks have nowhere to go. They sleep in public spaces, exposed to danger and illness. Any small income they earn goes toward surviving the day, not toward stable rent. Children cannot go to school, and parents live in constant fear. This homelessness makes it impossible to recover from trauma or rebuild a normal life.
This project directly removes the burden of homelessness. We will pay one full year of rent for 120 people and provide food for their first month. This immediate stability gives families a private, safe space to grieve and regroup. With a fixed address and basic needs met, parents can look for work and children can return to school, starting the process of rebuilding.
A year of guaranteed housing is a foundation for the future. It prevents children from living on the streets and gives families time to recover. Parents can secure jobs, save money, and eventually support themselves. This stability helps break the cycle of displacement and poverty, giving an entire community the chance to restore their lives with dignity and hope.
