February 2022 Report

By Ric Poolman | Director, digiServe

Hello Partners,

If you are keeping score, this was supposed to be the report of our first 1 or 2 children's homes getting up and running on our Child at Risk database. But like before, I still have bad news and good news.

Bad News: We are 0 for 6. This means we did 6 demos but we were not able to start training anyone yet. The reason is Covid 19 yet again. The omicron variant is causing the highest number of infected people Chiang Mai has seen so far. Many things are still moving along fairly normally though but children's homes are particularly sensitive to people coming to visit them as they are understandably trying to protect their children.

Good News:

  1. We do have several that want to start training when the infection rates are lower and we are hoping to start with one in-person in March as most people are saying this wave will end soon.
  2. We will be promoting the app online to interested parties rather than trying to visit for now and then setup appointments with those who sign up for a free trial.
  3. We will explore trying to do online training with both video tutorials and live video conferencing.
  4. We found a list of nearly 200 homes within our province just last Friday. We were having to use contacts of contacts to try and find them because there is not an official list. This will help us reach more homes.

So, still a work in progress but we are still making forward progress.

We are also exploring other ways to help children's homes with technology so stay tuned for our next update where I hope to give you *all* good news.
