Hospital stays are stressful for children, their day brightens when they see the colored costumes, balloon animals and magical tricks. Kind, sensitive clowns visit China's largest children hospital every week, every fortnight a smaller hospital ward. The children come from all over China, often their first time they seeing a clown. Laughter is the best medicine-be a doctor and send a smile!
Being in a hospital is stressful and frightening especially for a child - the noises, smells, white coats, unpleasant or painful medical procedures, worried parents. Annually thousands of children and parents have to travel for hours, sometimes days from other provinces to get treatment at the reputed Beijing Children's Hospital, leading to serious overcrowding and lack of staff time to consecrate to the children.
In 2003 Magic Hospital was born in the Beijing Children Hospital. While medical care is excellent there is nothing done for the little patients to take their mind off, so we started to send clowns to China's main Children Hospital. Nurse WANG from the Beijing Children Hospital: "We don't have any time to play with the children and they indeed need such playing time. You have brought us so much happiness, especially the Clown show. Children really like it."
We alleviate the effects of a hospital stay on children, and impact the healing process with the universal credo "Laughter is the best medicine", and provides support to parents and the dedicated staff.
