For 28 years we at Yachana Foundation have put education as the key to a brighter future for Amazon youth. We are giving free tuition to community-oriented students this year. Our boarding students call themselves Yachana Future Builders [YFB]. Your contribution to offset YFB's tuition is your key to assure these indigenous and mestizo "builders" are equipped to reverse generations of poverty, practice environmental awareness, and act as stewards of Ecuador's rainforest.
Ecuador is facing a big problem with the mestizos and indigenous only completing 8 years of schooling in a system that is set up for 13 continuous years. Only 30% go on to finish high school. Typically family average monthly incomes are about $2/day. Yachana offsets the yearly tuition costs of $3000/student attending our boarding school through external donations. Yachana must cover these costs that exceed $30,000 annually - we need your help!
By partnering with teachers & community leaders from Orellana & Napo Provinces we identify students to attend Yachana Training Center, here we provide additional academic reinforcement. Our students receive their formal high school degree through a government-approved program and Yachana Foundation provides the practical component to their education and creates opportunities for socially and environmentally responsible economic advancement for the region's indigenous and mestizo inhabitants.
Your contribution defrays costs making it feasible for recipients to finish secondary school. Our graduates are better prepared to enable local communities to break out of current economic poverty. We have and will continue to grow the future leaders that will be capable of moving their communities toward sustainable development. Your contribution becomes the change agent for YFB to positively impact not only their own families but also their communities toward new "Opportunities and Dreams".
