Access to clean water is crucial for children's health. Unfortunately, in Ethiopia, many of them lack access to clean water, putting them at risk of contracting diseases such as trachoma and exposing them to diseases like trachoma.
In Dita, a remote community located in the mountains with poor infrastructure, a study in December 2008 revealed that over 50% of the population had active trachoma, one of the highest rates in the project area. This was attributed to extremely low water coverage, poor sanitation, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of health education. Thanks your support and Orbis interventions over the years, including providing water supply, trachoma cases decreased by over 80% . The latest rainwater harvesting tank was implemented in 2023 with the support of Orbis, benefiting over 500 school children by ensuring access to safe and clean water and thereby preventing the spread of diseases.
Your continued support has a lasting impact on these children's lives in Ethiopia. Thank you for your generosity.
