By Julie Wang | Chair, Bio-Benin Advisory Board
We are expanding our fish farming project to encourage young Beninese to help protect the waterways in this arid, northern region of Benin. By planting trees and educating people about the destruction caused by cutting trees, we are also helping preserve fish in the rivers, which is a good source of protein for the community.
Once built, our fish farm will focus on raising tilapia and also give students a healthy appreciation for the beneficial effects of trees in holding moisture in the soil. We already have a dozen young women and men signed up to help plant trees along the waterways in July. With your help we can continue this environmental work and start raising fish on our farm.
Thank you for your help
