Cambodia project update: It's been a whirlwind few months!

By James Paul | Senior Grant Writer

Taylor Family update!

Tim Taylor, Care for Children's Training Manager - together with his family - relocated to Phnom Penh to head up this project in February this year. It's been a whirlwind few months as you can imagine. We asked them to answer two questions:

  1. What were your first impressions of Cambodia?
  2. What are the main differences between the UK and Cambodia?

See video here.

Cambodia project progress

Tim's done well to keep his several hats on, such has been the speed of progress. Since January, Care for Children has:

  1. Signed a three-year MoU with the Cambodian government.
  2. Organised long-term visas for the Taylor family.
  3. Accepted an invitation to share office space with the Department of Child Protection (which oversees child welfare development in Cambodia).
  4. Organised a National Family Placement Conference with the government.
  5. Completed NGO status and registration.
  6. Recruited a local project officer.
  7. Confirmed the two Residential Care Institutions (orphanages) participating in the pilot project.
  8. Identified the first children available for family placement!

Thank you for your support and for staying connected to this project!
