Orphans into loving families in Cambodia

Thank you for your continued support. Because of you, children in Cambodia are beginning to experience the love, safety, and belonging of family life.

What We’ve Achieved Together

Over the past four years, we’ve made strong progress alongside the Cambodian government to transform how children are cared for.

Building Government Partnerships
We are working closely with national and provincial partners across Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Battambang. Family-based care is now gaining real traction as a national priority, with growing government leadership and ownership.

Children Moving into Families
For the first time in Cambodia, children are moving from government-run orphanages into family care through a government-led process.

So far:

• 37 children have been placed into families.
• 67 more are ready and waiting to be matched.
• 20 families are currently being assessed.

Each placement is carefully supported to ensure children experience safe, stable, and lasting family care.

Strengthening the Workforce

• Over 300 government staff and care workers trained.
• 56 days of training and technical support delivered.
• Government social workers increasingly leading implementation.

This is helping shift the system towards family-based care.

Building a Sustainable System
We are also supporting national reforms, including foster care policies, training programmes, safeguarding standards, and plans for government financial support to foster families — laying the groundwork for long-term change.

Growing Awareness

• 27 community events held.
• Over 1,000 people reached.

Interest in foster care is growing, and momentum is building.

Looking Ahead (2026–2028)

With your support, we aim to:

• Expand from 3 to 10 government care institutions.
• Launch a new programme in Sihanoukville.
• Support up to 160 children into family care.
• Strengthen foster carer recruitment and support.
• Continue building government capacity.
• Support government-funded foster care allowances.
• Ensure every child has a stable, long-term family plan.

Our vision is for Cambodia to become a leading example of government-led family-based care in the region.
