Challenge

Millions of children in India still live in poverty without the support they need to survive and thrive within their communities. Many remain excluded from education because of limited resources, poor digital access & ongoing financial pressures at home. As a result, children are often pushed into low-paid work to help support their families, increasing the likelihood of permanently dropping out of school. Girls are especially vulnerable, facing heightened risks of early marriage and pregnancy.

Solution

Sponsorship provides children with consistent access to OSCAR's life skills & football programmes, helping them stay in school and build confidence for the future. Sponsorship reduces financial pressure on families, making it less likely that children will be forced into work or drop out of education. It creates a safe and supportive environment where children are protected from negative influences & given positive role models. Sponsorship helps break the cycle of poverty & creates opportunity

Long-Term Impact

Child Sponsorship is a proven long-term approach to addressing the systemic challenge of underprivileged children missing out on education. Parents with limited education themselves are often compelled to prioritise immediate survival needs, sending children to work or care for younger siblings instead of school. Sponsorship shifts this focus towards education & sport. Through engagement with OSCAR, children develop confidence and ambition, make their families proud and grow into role models.
