OSCASI: 65 years empowering communities in Petare

At OSCASI we are very excited about returning to school and we start activities in schools with a lot of energy.

On October 2 we started classes with an enrollment of 162 students. Our school team was preparing during the vacation period to start the year with a reinforced pedagogical model.

During this new school year we intend to continue with several programs that strengthen our educational model.

1. The program: LEARNING THROUGH THE SENSES is led by Therapist Maria Alejandra Rodríguez, who has been in charge of training and accompanying the work of our teachers in relation to stimulation through the senses to improve levels of attention and learning processes.

2. We are also going to continue with the INTEGRAL CLASSROOM, a space that arises as a consequence of the changes in the pedagogical model that has been implemented in the organization. In order to better meet the academic and pedagogical needs of our students, especially those who have difficulties in their academic performance and require greater attention to achieve their skills and continue advancing. We have a psychopedagogue who directs this space and works not only with the students but also with the teachers who are in charge of those special cases and need greater support.

3. READING WRITING Program: After seeing the success of the incorporation of the book Tobogán in the 2022-2023 school year, we decided to continue using it as a support instrument for teachers with those students with difficulties in reading and writing.

Likewise, we continue with our volunteer programs: Pastoral, Reading Moms and Art. This represents a link between Colegio San Ignacio and the OSCASI Alternative Schools. Our OSCASI students enjoy the visits and activities prepared by the different volunteer groups.

We also organized different activities with the students of Colegio San Ignacio for this academic year, such as the two OSCASI camps, for Junior and Senior year students.

Every Wednesday, starting in November, we receive Junior year students in our Alternative Schools, who reinforce our OSCASI students in the area of mathematics. Senior year students, on the other hand, go up for a full week, once every pedagogical moment and support the teachers in daily activities.

This is a very enriching experience for both parties, it represents an exchange of realities, where both learn and transform.

En OSCASI estamos muy entusiasmados por el regreso a clases y arrancamos las actividades en las escuelas con mucha energía.

El 02 de octubre empezamos clases con una matrícula de 162 estudiantes. Nuestro equipo de la escuelas se estuvo preparando durante el período de vacaciones para empezar el año con un modelo pedagógico reforzado. 

Durante este nuevo año escolar se pretende continuar con varios programas que fortalecen nuestro modelo educativo. 

1. El programa: APRENDIENDO A TRAVÉS DE LOS SENTIDOS, de la mano de la Terapeuta Maria Alejandra Rodríguez, quien se ha encargado de formar y acompañar el trabajo de nuestros docentes en relación a la estimulación a través de los sentidos para mejorar niveles de atención y procesos de aprendizaje. 

2.También vamos a continuar con el AULA INTEGRAL, un espacio que surge como consecuencia de los cambios del modelo pedagógico que se ha venido implementando en la organización. Con la finalidad de atender mejor las necesidades académicas y pedagógicas nuestros estudiantes, especialmente aquellos que presentan dificultades en su desempeño escolar y requieren mayor atención para alcanzar sus habilidades y seguir avanzando. Contamos con una psicopedagoga que dirige este espacio y trabajo no solo con los alumnos si no con los docentes que tienen bajo su cargo aquellos casos especiales y necesitan mayor acompañamiento.

3. Programa de LECTOESCRITURA: Después de ver el éxito que tuvo la incorporación del libro Tobogán en el año escolar 2022-2023, decidimos seguir con usándolo como instrumento de apoyo para los docentes con aquellos estudiantes con dificultad en lectoescritura. 

Asimismo, continuamos con nuestros programas de voluntariado: Pastoral, Mamás Lectoras y Arte. Esto representa un vínculo entre el Colegio San Ignacio y las Escuelas Alternativas de OSCASI. Nuestros estudiantes de OSCASI disfrutan de las visitas y actividades que preparan los diferentes grupos de voluntariado. 

También organizamos diferentes actividades de la mano de los alumnos del Colegio San ignacio, como son los dos campamentos de OSCASI, para alumnos de IV y V año. 

Todos los miércoles, a partir de noviembre, recibimos a los alumnos de IV año en nuestras Escuelas Alternativas, quienes refuerzan a nuestros estudiantes de OSCASI en el área de matemática. Los estudiantes de V año, en cambio, suben durante una semana completa, una vez cada momento pedagógico y apoyan a los docentes en la actividades diarias.

Esta es una experiencia muy enriquecedora para ambas partes, representa un intercambio de realidades, donde ambas aprenden y se transforman.
