Stay at home - it's been the call to action during the COVID-19 crisis. Our 36 girls, boys and teens have been making the best of this challenging situation, continuing to learn and have fun within the safety of our property limits. Kids require supervision and care; our Caregivers are some of the unsung heroes in this pandemic providing essential services to children who would otherwise be displaced. Please help us to fund the salary of two Caregivers for one year.
The urban communities in our State are ravaged by cycles of abuse, neglect and abandonment. Consequently, a growing number of children and teens are not ensured their fundamental rights. Violation of these rights (in particular the right to live free of violence) can result in removal of custody from the family. The primary work of Casa Hogar is to reinstate the fundamental rights of children placed in our care. Along the way these valuable children require around-the-clock care.
Activities of Caregivers include: encouraging and supervising the daily routine, building healthy habits, ensuring high-level hygiene, academic support & tutoring, health attention, learning through play and conflict-resolution. In short they fill in for the absence of parents. Funding the salaries of Caregivers allows Casas Hogar to fulfill the caregiving needs of the girls, boys and teens displaced from their home.
All children require loving adults to serve as guides, mentors, role-models & friends. In absence of a strong & positive child-parent relationship it is critical that this void be filled. Our Caregivers fill in providing direction & love; listening to the children, providing timely hugs, guidance & taking their opinion into consideration. Knowing that you are valuable & important is hugely beneficial for the healthy development of children into productive, responsible adults.
