Summary

In response to the catastrophic escalation of the conflict and the intense bombardment affecting wide areas across Lebanon, URDA has launched the (Our Lebanon) Emergency Appeal. The sudden attack has forced thousands of families to flee their homes under heavy fire, leaving behind all their belongings, clothing, and essential supplies. This mass displacement has reached a breaking point, with over 100,000 individuals currently displaced, a number that continues to rise rapidly.

Challenge

The humanitarian situation is dire; due to the overwhelming influx of people, formal shelters have reached full capacity, forcing many families to Spend Their Nights in the Streets or Seek Refuge Inside Their Vehicles. URDA field teams are mobilized nationwide to provide life-saving assistance to these households, targeting those in collective shelters and those struggling in public spaces across Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Saida, North Lebanon, and Bekaa.

Solution

The project aims to restore human dignity by distributing essential food items, including Ready to Eat kits, hot meals, bread bags, drinking water, and baby formula. Furthermore, the intervention provides critical non-food items (NFIs) such as sleeping kits (mattresses, blankets, Pillows), dignity kits, diapers for infants and the elderly, and rechargeable lamps to ensure basic comfort in overcrowded environments. Not to forget the PSS activities for children that will be of great impact.

Long-Term Impact

Over the long term, the intervention will contribute to improving the overall resilience and well-being of displaced families by ensuring sustained access to basic necessities such as shelter support, food, clean water, and essential non-food items. The provision of adequate nutrition and specialized assistance for vulnerable groups, including infants and the elderly, will help reduce health risks and support community health outcomes. PSS t activities for children will help in their recovery.
