International Medical Corps is providing lifesaving health care services and training for local health workers after a 7.6-magnitude earthquake devastated Padang, Indonesia in September. With hospitals and other health care facilities still destroyed, International Medical Corps is providing health care services to people who may otherwise not have access to care. International Medical Corps is also working to rebuild and strengthen Indonesia’s health care system through education and training. Through International Medical Corps’ recovery efforts, local health workers will be trained in basic life-saving skills as well as community health care which will not only make them better prepared if another disaster strikes, but also prepare them for everyday emergencies.
