We built 100 bamboo houses in Mirpurkhas to families that had been living in mud houses that had been destroyed by the floods. These bamboo houses are sustainable, earthquake proof and flood proof. We made sure to give to the female of the household for her protection and security.
We engaged local families who were stranded on the roads to help build and take ownership of these houses. It was a community project that gave them purpose and focus during dire times. It will also protect them now that the weather has cooled for winter.
