Aarogya Seva is expanding on the successful implementation of a COVID-19 Mental Health Helpline, by adding a tele-health helpline to assist community members with non-COVID related health concerns. The aim of the tele-health helpline is to provide the public with an alternative method to receive access to general healthcare and health advice.
The onset of COVID-19 has channeled a large portion of medical personnel and resources towards COVID-19 related illness and prevention. As an effect, this has minimized opportunity for the public to receive access to medical care for general health concerns. Additionally, the lockdown poses a challenge to community members who are in need of general medical attention and cannot leave their homes easily.
Aarogya Seva's Tele-Health Helpline will provide marginalized communities with access to free general healthcare consultations, which otherwise would not be possible due to transportation issues and a reallocation of resources toward COVID-19 relief. The Tele-Health Helpline will be able to connect individuals with resources through a network of doctors to ensure that community members with pre-existing or onset health concerns will be supported.
This project will provide a minimum of 10,000 marginalized individuals with access to general healthcare who otherwise would be facing life threatening circumstances. With access to healthcare, marginalized individuals and families will be able to thrive and live equitably in society.
