The REACH initiative by Fundacion Paraguaya helps vulnerable Paraguayan youth access and complete higher education, breaking the cycle of poverty. Launched in 2023, it offers scholarships, academic and emotional guidance, on-site childcare, mentorship, and job placement. Due to funding cuts, urgent support is needed to sustain the program and ensure that 285 students can continue their education, preserving their hope and potential for success.
In Paraguay, 64% of youth aged 18-29 aren't in formal education, limiting their future opportunities. Rural poverty, financial struggles, a lack of support, and isolation create barriers to higher education. Challenges include limited transport, poor academic preparation, and no mentorship. REACH faces funding cuts, putting the futures of 285 vulnerable students at risk.
REACH removes barriers to higher education by covering tuition fees, transportation, food, and school supplies. It provides tutoring, mentorship, and skill-building workshops, ensuring academic success and employability. Students access internships, microfranchises, and networking with professionals. A web platform, childcare services, and psychological support enhance well-being. Using the Poverty Stoplight, REACH tailors solutions to each student's needs for long-term success.
REACH breaks the poverty cycle by equipping vulnerable youth with skills for academic and professional success. Graduates become role models, inspiring their communities and encouraging others to pursue education. Additionally, graduates contribute to Paraguay's economic growth by filling roles in high-demand industries, driving innovation, and supporting the development of resilient, educated communities nationwide.
