Provide lonely elderly people living in Kharkiv and Kharkiv Region with humanitarian and medical assistance, as well as providing protection and psycho-emotional support to those left alone by the war. In addition to meeting the most immediate needs of the beneficiaries, we also strive to provide them with protection and psycho-emotional support. Our target audience is people who cannot take care of themselves for various reasons.
Social protection of elderly, people with disabilities and low mobility has always been scarce in Ukraine. Often these people were relying on social workers, their relatives or neighbours who would help them buy medicine and food. As the full-scale war began and many people left Kharkiv, numerous representatives of these vulnerable groups were left with no one to take care of them and with no resources to satisfy basic needs not to mention the fact they have no one to support them emotionally.
First of all, we ensure decent living conditions by providing food, hygiene products and basic medicine twice a month. We also provide various equipment: crutches, wheelchairs, flashlight, sometimes even beds, etc. We help them with small things: drive them to hospitals, help fix windows in case they were broken during bombing. Finally, we try to provide emotional support by showing they are not alone: we visit them and encourage our followers to write them letters that we then deliver
Currently we cover basic needs of 600 individuals in Kharkiv. We manage to do this by operating our "digital patreon" platform, where anyone can become a "patron" for our beneficiaries. We want each and every of them to have someone who will regularly take care of them not only financially but by keeping in touch - this would give them much needed socialisation and sense of connection. In general, by strengthening connections within our society we hope to make it more resilient.
