" Our cycle rickshaw has set us free"

By Nick Hansen | Liaison Officer

A new cycle RIckshaw
A new cycle RIckshaw

Hi everyone!

Sorry this update is a little late but here it is. I am very pleased to be able to tell you that this stage of our appeal is complete with the purchase of two more cycle rickshaws for two more local BPL ( below the poverty line) families.

Kaliu Manjhi and Arjun Paswan, both of whom have three children received their rickshaws recently at our office, The Averill Centre .

So what does this mean in real terms to their lives? Well obviously both families are extremely poor but as Prasila , one of the wives said,

"This means a lot to us, my husband already uses a cycle rickshaw to earn a living but in the past we had to rent one. Depending on the different owners we had to pay a fixed rental fee whether he managed to earn enough or not. Our own cycle rickshaw has set us free"

You can make such a difference as these families are amongst many locally who could be helped so much by this scheme and due to many requests we have started a new appeal for three more cycle rickshaws for needy families on Global Giving which you can find here

www.globalgiving.org/projects/green-riders-moving-out-of-poverty-in-bihar-india

But many thanks to you for supporting these families,

With Best Wishes

 Nick Hansen
