PEDIATRIC CENTER FOR 15,600 CHILDREN IN NEED

Dear donor, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for your generous contribution. It is truly rewarding to know that, thanks to your valuable support, our work is translating into a real improvement in the living conditions of thousands of vulnerable children, guaranteeing them access to timely and high-quality healthcare services.

 Your donation is creating a direct impact on thousands of low-income families living in the underserved communities of the Punta Cana tourist destination.

 Through this and future reports, we will keep you updated on our progress and how your investment is being used in this social initiative.

 The health center is located in the community of Verón, a strategic point accessible to all vulnerable populations in the Punta Cana region.

Since its inauguration in 2017, the clinic has provided quality primary care to more than 15,000 children and adolescents (0–15 years old) from low-income families.

 Outpatient Consultations: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Emergency Care: Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.

 The clinic continues to offer health prevention programs and a wide range of services, including: outpatient consultations, emergency care, laboratory,  ultrasounds, pharmacy, dental care, vaccination and ambulance services.

 Over the last four months, the medical center recorded the following impact metrics:

• Patients served: a total of 10,735 people received medical care.
• Highest-flow areas: emergency, pediatric consultations, laboratory, and vaccination.
• Most common diagnoses: respiratory infections, febrile syndrome, skin infections, injuries from external causes, and gastrointestinal disorders.

 In recent months, we have successfully focused on strengthening our staff's skills. This was achieved by promoting good medical practices, advancing research, implementing telemedicine, and hosting medical internships in collaboration with partner organizations from the United States.  We also highlight the following:  

• Nutritional monitoring: The institution maintains its ongoing monitoring initiative for children under five experiencing nutritional deficiencies. This is achieved through targeted malnutrition screenings, specialized pediatric care and the provision of therapeutic foods. Around 100 families benefited from this program monthly   
•  School readiness health screenings: Prior to the academic year 2026-2027, the center hosted medical evaluation events serving over 500 public school students. These pre-school wellness days are designed to help underprivileged children and adolescents fulfill school health requirements by offering comprehensive physical exams along with vision and hearing assessments. The health of underage students is fundamental because it determines their learning capacity, biopsychosocial development, and long-term well-being. When a child or adolescent enjoys good physical and mental health, school absenteeism rates decrease, and their cognitive and emotional potential is maximized.
•  Literacy Initiatives: The Children's Reading Promotion Program remains active, donating books to pediatric patients to encourage imagination, recreation, creativity and a lifelong habit of reading.

 Through these dedicated pediatric services, the center continues to advance the United Nations 2030 Agenda, contributing directly to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.

 To successfully complete the current phase of the project, the center aims to achieve the following milestones:

• Procure additional medical equipment and furniture.(for example, x ray machine replacement)
• Integrate new software to streamline administrative efficiency.
• Scale up the professional training program for staff members.
• Expand the physical capacity of the facilities.
• Upgrade the on-site laboratory infrastructure.
• Secure a greater volume of medical materials and essential medications.
