Reflecting on 2026

By Margarita Pilier | Project Coordinator

Dear donor, please receive a warm greeting.  Through your donation we have been able to continue offering quality health care services to thousands of children living in the underserved communities of the Punta Cana region. You truly make the difference to those children and we are extremely grateful!

Thank you for your contribution, we are thrilled to have your support.

It is so rewarding to know that so many children in need receiving primary health care, which ensures people receive quality comprehensive care – ranging from promotion and prevention to treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care – as close as feasible to people’s everyday environment.

Primary Health Care (PHC) provides whole-child care for health needs, not just for a set of specific diseases.  It addresses the broader determinants of health and focuses on the comprehensive and interrelated aspects of physical, mental and social health and wellbeing.

Evidence of wide-ranging impact of investment in PHC continues to grow around the world, particularly in times of crisis.

Currently 100% of the medical services are available. The patient service hours are from 8:00am to 4:00 pm, from Monday to Friday. Emergency is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays

Nowadays the clinic continues offering health prevention programs, outpatient consultations, ambulance, dental care, vaccination, x ray services, emergency, laboratory, pharmacy, ultrasound, others.

From January to December 2025 the center served more than 25, 000 patients, 0-15 years old

The areas with the highest flow of patients are emergency, pediatric consultations, laboratory and vaccination.

The most common medical cases in the last months: Respiratory infections, febrile syndrome, skin infections, injuries from external causes and gastrointestinal disorders.

Main activities and programs in the last months:

  •  Care for children and adolescents recruited by CONANI (National Counsil for Children) affected by poverty and violence. They receive medical care, preventive health care, and nutrition.
  • Training for employees and dissemination of good medical practices through research, telemedicine, and medical internships with partner USA organizations.
  • Together with UNICEF and Sanar una Nacion, a plan to monitor the development of children under 5 years of age with nutritional deficiencies has continued to be implemented. Through malnutrition screening sessions, specialized medical care, and the distribution of therapeutic foods.
  • Deworming sessions for children under 5 years old.
  • Vitamin A prophylaxis sessions.
  • Promotion of children's reading; book donations to foster creativity.
  • Educational session focused on raising awareness and preventing childhood cancer, with the distribution of kits to beneficiary families.
  • Distribution of fortified lentils to more than 100 families.
  • Talks on dental health care.
  • Participation in three community medical missions with Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) . During these missions around 300 children from vulnerable communities in the Punta Cana region benefited from consultations and medications for free
  • Recreational and educational activity led by the Grupo Puntacana Corporate Volunteering Program

The center continues to make a difference in pediatric care and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 agenda of the United Nations (UN), specifically Goal 3 - Health and Well-being

There are still goals to achieve in this stage of the project:

  • Purchase the additional medical equipment and furniture.
  • Purchase and implement a software to improve the administrative efficiency
  • Expand the staff training program
  • Expand the facilities
  • Improve the laboratory facilities
  • Increase the supply of medical materials and medications.

This and all the reports to follow will update you on our progress and how your donation is been invested in this social initiative.

Looking forward you continue to partner with us!

If you have any comment, advice or question, please let us know and we will respond as best we can.

Thank you very much again for your support!

Best wishes !
