The project aims at meeting the urgent and acute needs of the apprehended unregistered refugees attempting to enter Turkiye through provision of most vital needs of the individuals. The target groups include the individuals rescued at sea, apprehended at the border regions of Turkiye or within the country's territories. With the raised funding, ASAM will provide clothing, shoes, food, hygiene, temporary shelter, medical assistance, transportation etc to alleviate the urgent needs.
After a thorny journey to seek asylum in another country, the needs of the refugees come to an acute situation that if not alleviated rapidly, may lead to more consolidated problems. Most of the time, these needs include survival necessities such as food, warming up, washing themselves, or medicines. Unless met, these needs may cause more intensified vulnerabilities especially for children, pregnant women, elderly and ones with specific conditions such as chronic disease or disability.
ASAM has been working at the border areas for a very long time and has specific mobile teams that are assigned to support the refugees in need in these regions. With the raised funding ASAM intends to meet the most acute needs of these individuals through provision of clothing, shoes, food, hygiene, temporary shelter, medical assistance, transportation support etc to alleviate the most urgent needs in the Aegean region/Western land and sea borders and eastern border area.
Since the project will respond to the needs of the refugees before they become more intensified and lead to vital consequences. The immediate aid can have a life saving impact when it addresses vital conditions. Therefore, through intervening to the needs of the individuals promptly, ASAM aims at decreasing the future risks and vulnerabilities that may require more complicated and long term responses.
