Dear friends
Dear friends, This report provides an update on the recent activities carried out under the Girls' Empowerment Program (GEP), facilitated by PHASE Nepal on September 2024 , with a focus on building life skills, leadership qualities, and self-confidence among adolescent girls.
Program Oversight and Implementation
An education supervisor has been assigned to oversee the GEP activities within the project. Working closely with PHASE’s central education team, the supervisor has been instrumental in ensuring the effective implementation of the program's initiatives in the targeted communities.
Selection and Training of Facilitators
During the reporting period, PHASE Nepal successfully recruited and trained a team of 20 female education facilitators. This recruitment drive took place across two communities:
Candidates were selected through a community-level vacancy announcement, followed by a rigorous selection process, including a written exam and interviews.
A Training of Trainers (TOT) session was organized for the newly appointed facilitators from 28 August to 1 September 2024. Through this training, facilitators received comprehensive guidance on conducting empowerment workshops tailored to adolescent girls in local schools.
Workshop at Jana Jyoti Secondary School
As part of the program's rollout, a GEP workshop was conducted at Jana Jyoti Secondary School in Natharpu by the end of September 2024. This workshop engaged a total of 82 adolescent students, comprising 22 boys and 60 girls. Through interactive sessions, participants explored various topics essential for personal growth, social responsibility, and academic excellence.
Outcomes and Impact
Looking ahead, PHASE Nepal intends to expand these workshops to additional schools in the region, continuing to empower adolescents through life skills, gender sensitivity training, and leadership development. We appreciate the support your and our donors, which makes these impactful initiatives possible.
Thank you for your continued support.
