Encouraging villages to plant more trees
By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Grow more trees
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your donation to our project helping beneficiaries affected by flooding. This time is hot season but rains are projected to happen soon and with heavy rainfall the situation of flooding usually occurs. We encourage our beneficiaries to plant more trees in order to prevent flooding as the roots hold rampaging water besides getting income and food from the planted trees. This is we think the only solution especially to the problem of climate change as trees help cool the sorroundings. This reporting period we have supported the raising of fruit and timber tree seedlings by our beneficiaries and we are targeting reaching-out to 300 farmers for the tree planting activities as the rain starts. Hoping for your continuing help to this project.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora Sayre

Hillside management

Promoting fast-growing trees
Dear Friend,
Happy New Year and thank you very much for your generous support to our initiative exploring and establishing interventions to prevent flooding. One of the causes of flooding is the lack of barriers like trees in the mountainsides and everytime there is torrential rain, massive flash floods occur. There is a need to contain this situation given that most of our project sites are flood-prone. In order to do this, we provide assistance to farmers to plant fast-growing trees in their hillsides in order to prevent flooding. Their choice of trees are fruit trees which is undertandable given the need for food by local farmers. There are a lot of tree species that are fast growing and are economically important and we are promoting these. Hoping for your continuing support to our initiative. Thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora Sayre

Climate mitigation by growing trees

Orientation with leaders
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your support to our project helping those affected by flooding. This project takes on greater attention by us as well as local supporters because of the unpredictability of the climate condtion happening compared to years before. Flooding is more frequent and more severe. The hillsides because there are less trees growing are contributory to flooding in the lowlands and this reporting period we engage local leaders to grow and care for trees. Added to our initiative is to link with organizations involved with carbon credit mechanisms so that we can enroll trees we plant and gain more resources in the process. Although this is entirely new to us, we think that we can do this with technical help from friends and contacts. With the tree growing activities, we were able to orient 25 leaders so that they will start the initiative in their own areas. Your help is very much needed. Thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora Sayre
