To support agroforestry development initiatives, Yayasan INFEST, in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada —particularly the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, organized a Livestock Health Management Training focused on sheep farming. This training was conducted as a follow-up to the distribution of sheep grants to farmers living in forest-edge areas as part of an agrisilviculture development program.
The training was facilitated by a licensed veterinary doctor, ensuring that participants received accurate, practical, and context-appropriate knowledge related to animal health management. The activity aimed to strengthen farmers’ technical capacity in managing livestock health as an integral component of sustainable agroforestry systems.
Focus of the Training
The training covered several key topics, including:
Expected Outcomes
This training is expected to improve the productivity and resilience of community-based sheep farming by reducing livestock mortality and disease-related losses. By strengthening farmers’ knowledge and skills in animal health management, the activity contributes to the sustainable integration of livestock into agroforestry systems. In the long term, improved livestock productivity is anticipated to support household livelihoods while reinforcing the development of agrisilviculture as a viable and sustainable land-use model in forest-adjacent areas.
