From Saplings to Sanctuary: Our Journey Toward 100,000 Trees

By Khayat | Project Staff

Dear Supporters and Donors,

We are grateful to share an update on our ongoing reforestation journey through the Plant 100,000 Trees in Indonesia Forest initiative. What began with small saplings is steadily growing into a collective effort to restore degraded landscapes and build long-term environmental resilience with local communities.

Progress on the Ground

Over the past months, our team and community partners have focused on strengthening the early stages of restoration. This includes preparing nurseries, selecting tree species suited to local ecosystems, and engaging community members in seedling care. These foundational steps are critical to ensuring that trees not only get planted—but survive and thrive.

Community at the Heart of Conservation

This project is rooted in a community-led approach. Local residents are involved in nursery management, planting activities, and ongoing monitoring. By placing communities at the center of conservation efforts, we ensure long-term stewardship of the forests being restored.

More Than Tree Planting

Our work goes beyond increasing tree numbers. Each tree contributes to:

  • Restoring degraded land and forest cover

  • Protecting water sources and improving soil health

  • Absorbing carbon and supporting climate resilience

  • Strengthening sustainable livelihoods for forest-edge communities

From saplings nurtured in nurseries to trees growing into living sanctuaries, every stage of this journey reflects our commitment to sustainable, people-centered restoration.

Looking Ahead

In the coming months, we will continue expanding nursery capacity, organizing community planting activities, and strengthening forest care systems. These steps bring us closer to our shared goal of 100,000 trees planted and protected.

Thank You for Growing With Us

Your support makes this journey possible. Every contribution helps turn saplings into forests, degraded land into sanctuary, and hope into lasting impact.

Together, we are not just planting trees—we are restoring ecosystems and securing a greener future for generations to come.

With gratitude,

INFEST Team
