Forest restoration in Indonesia cannot succeed without the people who live closest to the forests. This project focuses on villages surrounding forest areas in Blora and Ngawi Regencies, where deforestation and land degradation directly affect local livelihoods, water sources, and climate resilience. By working at the village level, we ensure that restoration efforts are rooted in local knowledge and long-term commitment.
Tree planting activities are designed to be fully participatory, engaging villagers as active partners rather than passive beneficiaries. A strong emphasis is placed on women’s participation, recognizing the vital role women play in managing natural resources, sustaining household economies, and safeguarding future generations.
Our approach combines two complementary strategies. First, agroforestry systems are developed to support community livelihoods through productive trees that generate income while restoring degraded land. Second, dedicated conservation forest zones are established to protect biodiversity, water systems, and ecological balance. This dual approach ensures that environmental restoration and community well-being grow together.
