24 Hours to Support Forest Restoration and Community-Based Conservation in Indonesia
Yayasan INFEST will participate in the annual July Bonus Day Campaign organized by GlobalGiving, a global fundraising event designed to amplify support for grassroots initiatives around the world. During this 24-hour campaign, participating projects have the opportunity to receive additional matching support and bonus funding to maximize the impact of every donation.
This year’s campaign includes:
Through this campaign, we invite supporters, partners, and the wider public to strengthen our ongoing initiative:
Plant 100,000 Trees in Indonesia’s Forests
As of May 19, 2026, the project has successfully raised: USD 3,144.65
These contributions have directly supported the development of conservation and agroforestry initiatives in Indonesia, including community-based forest restoration, conservation seedling preparation, and sustainable land management activities.
Currently, the project is focusing on several strategic activities under the broader restoration program. One of the primary initiatives is the development of a 2-hectare agroforestry demonstration plot in Bantul, Yogyakarta. This area is being designed as an experimental and educational agroforestry landscape developed from the ground up. The system integrates a variety of species, including durian, sugar palm (aren), Liberica coffee, fodder plants, shrubs, legumes, and other local conservation species. Beyond functioning as a productive landscape, the demonstration plot will serve as a learning and training center for farmers and local communities interested in transitioning toward sustainable agroforestry systems.
In parallel, the project is preparing approximately 20,000 seedlings consisting of Liberica coffee, sugar palm, durian, banyan tree (beringin), and other local conservation species. These seedlings are scheduled for distribution in December 2026 to communities in one village in Ngambong Subdistrict, Blora Regency. This initiative aims to strengthen local efforts to restore degraded former teak forest landscapes while promoting more diverse and ecologically resilient agroforestry systems.
Another important component of the program is the strengthening of organic fertilizer production derived from sheep manure. Community-managed sheep farming has become part of a broader circular economy approach that supports conservation activities. Sheep manure is processed into high-standard organic fertilizer to improve soil fertility, reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers, and support sustainable agroforestry development.
This campaign is not only about planting trees. It is about restoring degraded landscapes, strengthening community resilience, creating sustainable livelihoods, and building long-term conservation systems rooted in local participation.
Your contribution during GlobalGiving July Bonus Day will help:
Expand conservation seedling production
Restore degraded forest landscapes
Support community-based agroforestry initiatives
Strengthen circular rural economies
Build more resilient ecosystems and communities
Mark your calendar: July 15–16, 2026
Together, we can create greater impact for Indonesia’s forests and the communities who protect them.
