Dear Friends,

As we reach the end of another successful year of project implementation in rural Senegal, we want to thank you for your continued support of CREATE!’s work and your faith in us. And today, in lieu of a narrative report, we want to share with you a picturesque journey that embodies our reforestation efforts in Senegal.

This journey starts with preparing the sachets for the tree saplings that the women from our communities make, plant seeds in, and then nourish to bring them to life. This work is timed such that the saplings are ready to be planted in the ground during the rainy season. This is when the saplings are distributed to all the women, the planting is monitored and with time, through proper maintenance, they become the fruit and nut trees or the trees that act as living fences protecting the community gardens from the hot dry winds.

But rather than us talking about it, let’s show it to you through these following pictures, and thank you once again for believing in us. We hope you will consider sharing about this venture with other like-minded people so our projects can be nourished like these trees.

Thank You!

First step: Preparing the tree sapling sachets

Then with proper maintenance, the saplings grow...
Then with proper maintenance, the saplings grow...
... and get ready to be planted in the ground
... and get ready to be planted in the ground
Now comes the planting and maintaining stage

In a year, those saplings turn into trees

Trees that provide food like papaya and moringa

And trees that become living fences for the garden
