Plant 40,000 Trees In Northern Rwanda

Dear Patrons,

We are very happy to thank you very much for all the support that you have provided so far for our Rwanda forestation project.

We are so excited to share with you the progress of saplings that are growing well and we are going to complete tree planting for land 5 this September 2022. We will plant saplings at location Rwanda: 7299+3WH (Google Plus code). This area’s name is Taba (colline Mwite). In total we will plant 7,000 saplings in the period of one month.

We take this opportunity to thank students from Muyanza and Burega Primary school and their valuable and active participation in this forestation project. For this send round also, students will participate in the tree planting activities.  RWAYDAVO Volunteers and project workers will help in digging holes deep enough to cover the tree's root-ball and to put the organic fertilizer. Then a student will be removing the root-ball from the container and place the tree in the hole and RWAYDAVO leaders will ensure that the activities are happening as planned. A detailed report and Videos will be shared during tree planting ( at the beginning and at the end of land 5 tree planting).  

During planting of the trees, community leaders of Burega Sector will participate in the event. I would like also to share that one hectare given to RWAYDAVO by Rulindo district will be planted in October 2022, and we will help in reforestation. This land is located in Rulindo district, Burega Sector, and Taba cell.

After Tree planting activities, we will fence the land because we want to protect the land 5 in which the trees are planted from animals like goats, cows, and sheep, as well as from the disturbances caused by humans. After all these activities we will do close follow-up and maintenance.

To do this successfully, we will need ongoing funds for the regular maintenance of the saplings and the land. The maintenance will require maximum care and supervision to make sure that trees are growing well. This activity will also include pruning the area properly in order to keep the trees healthy and strong, Water is food for our trees and plants – that’s why effective watering is one of the most important ways to care and maintain, so watering might be needed during the dry season.  Watering this land will be the most difficult thing as this land is in the middle of the hill. If we have enough funds, it could be necessary to maintain water during the rainy season in Tanks and then use them during dry season.  We will make sure that the soil is not compacted because the soil compaction prevents water and oxygen from infiltrating to the tree’s roots. We will be doing mulch about 6 inches from the base of the tree so that we cannot damage our trees roots.
