Dear Donors,
Thank you for your continued support of our reforestation work. As we progress toward our goal of raising 50,000 tree saplings, we are excited to share an important update from the field.
1. Why We Are Expanding the Nursery
Our initial nursery structure has become too small to handle the large number of saplings required for this project. To ensure that each seedling grows strong and healthy, we began constructing a larger, more efficient nursery that will accommodate the full scale of our work.
2. Current Construction Activities
This week, our team started building the new structure, which will serve as the primary site for raising saplings.
The photo shows our field staff installing the roof supports and shade netting.
The expanded nursery offers:
Increased capacity to grow 50,000 saplings
Better shade protection from harsh sunlight
Improved ventilation and drainage for healthy growth
Stronger wooden framing to withstand seasonal weather
3. Progress So Far
Wooden structural posts and beams have been completed
Shade net installation is in progress
The ground has been cleared and prepared
The space is now ready to receive planting bags
4. Next Steps
Finish roofing and shade netting
Arrange planting bags in the new nursery
Begin sowing seeds
Install watering lines and protective fencing
5. Why This Matters
This improved nursery is essential for the success of the 50,000 Trees Project. With the new structure:
Saplings will grow in a safer, controlled environment
Seedling loss will be greatly reduced
We will produce stronger, healthier trees for planting across the community
6. Appreciation
Your generosity is what makes this work possible. With every contribution, you are helping restore degraded land, support local communities, and build a greener future for Rwanda.
Thank you for standing with us.
