Planting Activities May 9

By UWIZEYIMANA JEAN DAMASCENE | Project Leader

Dear Patrons,

RWAYDAVO is pleased to share a report on the continuation of our tree planting campaign carried out on Saturday, May 9, 2026, on our hillside land in Buyoga, Rwanda.

Location: Buyoga, Rwanda (72HH+PCP)

During this second phase of the activity, special attention was given to training and involving children in practical environmental conservation work. Before planting began, participants received a live demonstration on the correct methods of planting tree saplings to ensure better growth and survival rates.

The demonstration included:

  • Careful removal of plastic nursery bags
  • Proper placement of saplings into prepared planting holes
  • Covering and refining the soil firmly around the roots after planting

This educational session allowed children and community members to actively learn and participate in sustainable environmental practices through hands-on experience.

Despite the steep and mountainous nature of the land, the activity was successfully completed through teamwork and commitment from all participants. Transportation and movement of materials remained challenging because the area has no road access, requiring all activities to be carried out on foot.

See attached video.

During this planting session, approximately 2,300 eucalyptus trees were successfully planted on the same land. These efforts will continue contributing to land restoration, soil protection, and long-term environmental sustainability in the community.

RWAYDAVO highly appreciates the dedication shown by all volunteers, children, and community members who participated in the activity.

Further updates regarding monitoring, survival rates, and upcoming planting activities will be shared in due course.

Thank you for your continued support.
