Their future in Jeopardy

"Happy" our Librarian, keeping Hope alive!

Their future threatened !
Well life has been difficult…in fact very difficult! It had been so for the whole of 2023 and we had hoped for better days, but 2024 has started very badly, not just for our project but for Malawi. The problem must be climate change without respite! Last year in our area we had the cyclones and floods which destroyed both homes and more importantly the Crops and this year Drought just after planting with the same result.
Having given the bad news, the good news is that we managed to send all our registered children to school. However paying the fees and buying the uniforms will not fill their bellies and so at the moment we are in a flux! Already we have had some of our students becoming pregnant and dropping out….. why ? in a desperate the need to search for food . ! the ideals and ambitions of life cannot continue without the basic necessity of food. Hunger is the driver!
The resilience of the poor is awe inspiring and so we will not lose Hope…we hope in the interim that the government will take the problem in hand and not allow starvation to become widespread and ruin the chances of our children to be educated ,to reach their potential and so the potential of Malawi itself.
