After years of conflict and displacement in Syria, more than 20,000 children aged 6-17 across 40 villages have grown up without safe spaces for play or interaction. This project aims to create and equip multi-purpose sports fields for football, basketball, and volleyball on land generously donated by a local benefactor. These safe spaces will bring children from diverse backgrounds together, helping them rebuild a sense of safety, belonging, trust, and hope through structured sports activities.
Years of conflict have fractured Syrian communities and deprived children of safe environments for healthy growth. Many children live with ongoing stress and trauma, lacking opportunities to play, interact positively, and release emotional pressure. The absence of sports fields and organized activities increases isolation, aggressive behavior, and social division, especially in diverse communities, leaving children without shared spaces to build trust and essential social skills.
This project responds by establishing and equipping multi-purpose sports fields for football, basketball, and volleyball. These fields will transform unused or unsafe areas into secure, child-friendly spaces. Structured sports programs will bring children together under trained supervision, integrating psychosocial support and teaching teamwork, nonviolent communication, and conflict resolution, while training local coaches to ensure sustainability and community ownership.
By creating permanent sports fields, the project will help nurture a generation of children who experience cooperation instead of division and dialogue instead of violence. Children will develop social, emotional, and leadership skills that support peaceful conflict resolution and positive community participation. Over time, these sports fields will serve as community hubs for peacebuilding, rebuilding trust across social divides, and supporting long-term recovery in Syria.
