Today, in the European Union the number of people with disabilities is growing every year with an expected 120 million of Europeans to be living with a disability by 2020. Many of them are victims of daily discrimination. 30% of people with disabilities are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Based on this observation, this project aims to disseminate Paralympic and European values in order to fight against discrimination and reduce social gaps.
Play'In Together is a project gathering 9 complementary partners from all over Europe and beyond that work in the field of sport and share a particular interest on the question of disability. The idea of the project is to highlight the capabilities of children with disabilities and to inculcate a profound change of mindset and behaviour of different European societies. In turn, this will serve as a lever for the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Sport and play provide a unique way of bringing children together. This project gives children with and without disability the chance to change their own lives and positively impact the future of other. PLAY International works with local partners in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Sweden and Kosovo including in schools and youth clubs to ensure that the work continues after the project finishes.
