At the request of its intervention communities, the NGO CAV proposes to implement a support program for access to improved water sources. This project includes the installation of 4 boreholes, including 2 human-powered boreholes and 2 photovoltaic boreholes in Togo. This project will contribute to improving the health of 10,415 inhabitants, by providing them with quality water, in sufficient quantity and in all seasons.
The difficulties faced by these communities are generally the following: the water used in these areas often comes from open wells, infected water from rivers and ponds, which causes waterborne and parasitic diseases such as malaria (the main cause of morbidity and mortality in these communities), diarrhea and typhoid fever.
This project aims to improve the health of the population by providing the following solutions: 1. Raise awareness among the community to better understand the issues and risks of the project; 2. Undertake drilling and water analysis activities; 3. Provide equipment and install the mechanical and photovoltaic power supply system; 4. Build superstructures and water towers for the boreholes 5. Support communities to set up Water Committees 6. Strengthen the capacities of Water Committees.
This project will bring the following impacts: 1. A sustainable solution to the problem of drying up water sources in the dry season 2. Prevention of water-borne diseases 3. Improvement of the health of the population
