This project will transform Ponce NHS office building, to continue providing services, such as: homeownership services and socioeconomic development community programs. It will be attending more than 2,000 families affected by Hurricane Maria in 2017, and Earthquake in January 2020. Our goal is to have a physical structure that allows us to increase the number of workshops, to improve rapid response to events.
Transform and reconstruct a two story building, which will be the First Multidisciplinary Community Center located in the urban area of Ponce, Puerto Rico. The Center will offer services to more than 15 municipalities in Puerto Rico, allowing the development of undeserved and vulnerable community projects. Ponce NHS will have the opportunity to reach a broader area of impact, serving more than 200 communities, which will result in an expansion of our services.
By creating and implementing programs to provide tools and resources that will empower and strengthen communities. With these strategies, communities will be educated and trained to develop socio-economic self-sustaining projects. Through education and training programs for the communities, community groups, neighborhoods, community leaders and residents will acquire knowledge and skills in different areas to work and sustain their families.
The Homeownership and Community Development Center ( Spanish acronym CAASA) will provide expanded facilities for constant education, support and training to help individuals and families to rise out of poverty. In the event of any future natural disaster, they will be ready to help a community of 500+ families.
