We begin this report by expressing deep appreciation to GlobalGiving and every kind-hearted donor whose support sustains this critical intervention. Your compassion and solidarity continue to give hope to hundreds of mentally ill and abandoned patients in psychiatric homes and prayer centers across Southeast Nigeria.
This quarter, we received a combined donation of $162.00 (comprising $157.50 and $4.50), and while the amount is modest, the impact it has helped to sustain is profound.
Project Progress Update
1. Feeding and Nutritional Support
The core of this project remains the daily feeding of mentally unstable individuals in designated centers. With the support received, we were able to provide:
Hot meals prepared with local staples (rice, beans, garri, yam)
Fruits and protein-rich supplements
Bottled water and other beverages
The meals are often the only reliable source of nourishment for many of these patients. Our field volunteers ensure food is cooked under hygienic conditions and delivered with dignity and care.
2. Emotional and Spiritual Care
In addition to feeding, SOHF teams visit patients to offer emotional and spiritual support, working with caregivers and chaplains to reduce trauma, promote healing, and ensure humane treatment. These touchpoints are crucial to maintaining hope and preventing abuse in poorly regulated facilities.
New Development: Partnership with Isidore CompetitivAI Avatar
We are excited to share a groundbreaking development—our new partnership with Isidore CompetitivAI Avatar, an advanced multilingual AI assistant designed to support humanitarian operations.
How this benefits our work with mental health patients:
Data Collection & Monitoring: AI-driven tools will help us track patient needs, caregiver responses, and inventory levels more accurately, reducing waste and improving targeting.
Voice-Activated Accessibility: Many caregivers have limited literacy, but with voice-based commands in local languages, they can now report food shortages, emergencies, or abuse faster.
Efficiency & Transparency: The Avatar will help us automate reporting, enhance transparency, and provide real-time analytics, even in hard-to-reach communities.
This innovation will transform how we serve vulnerable individuals, ensuring better planning, faster intervention, and more measurable impact.
Challenges Encountered
Inconsistent donations have limited our ability to scale food distribution across more centers.
Rising food prices due to inflation and insecurity in rural areas affect our purchasing power.
Some prayer houses still resist documentation, making it difficult to track the number of patients accurately.
Next Steps
Scale reach to more centers through micro-grants and partnerships.
Integrate Isidore Avatar fully into our humanitarian field operations.
Launch advocacy campaigns to improve public awareness and attract more recurring donors.
Conclusion
We remain grateful for every dollar donated. The $162.00 received this quarter has contributed to preserving the dignity and wellbeing of abandoned patients whose voices often go unheard. With our new digital integration and your ongoing support, SOHF is poised to expand its impact, embrace innovation, and continue restoring hope—one life at a time.
Together, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate world.
With deep gratitude,
Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF)
