Thousands of children in Nigeria are at risk of trafficking due to poverty, lack of education, and family instability. This project will provide home-based education for 300 vulnerable children, offering literacy, numeracy, and life skills lessons while keeping them safe in their communities. By reaching children at home, the program reduces exposure to traffickers, keeps them engaged in learning, and equips families with tools to protect and support their children.
Child trafficking remains a major threat in Nigeria, with thousands of children exploited for labor or illegal work each year. Poverty, lack of school access, and unsafe community environments increase vulnerability. Many children leave school or work on the streets, exposing them to traffickers who exploit their situation. Families often lack resources or knowledge to keep children safe, and traditional schooling may not reach remote or at-risk children.
The project provides home-based education for at-risk children, delivering literacy, numeracy, and life skills lessons directly in their homes. Trained educators visit regularly, engaging both children and families in learning while monitoring safety. By keeping children in a structured educational program at home, the project reduces exposure to traffickers, prevents school dropout, and equips families with tools to protect children. It also strengthens community awareness on child safety.
Children who receive home education gain knowledge and skills that improve future employment opportunities. Families become better informed and more able to protect children from trafficking. In the long term, communities experience reduced child exploitation and higher school attendance rates. Educated and safe children are more likely to contribute positively to local economies and society.
