redistributes it to over 200 NGOs across Lesser Poland, helping around 60,000 people in need. Since November 2024, we've saved over 2.9 million pounds of food, turning it into millions of meals while reducing landfill waste and harmful emissions. Your donations cover essential operational costs-fuel, rent, warehouse maintenance-and allow us to continue this vital work. By supporting us, you're helping both people and the planet. Think globally. Act locally. Feed people, not landfills.
Food waste represents a significant global issue with widespread social, economic, and environmental impacts, with approximately one-third of all food produced worldwide being lost or wasted annually. The causes of food waste span the entire supply chain, including production inefficiencies, poor post-harvest handling, and consumer behaviors such as over-purchasing and improper storage.
The Krakow Food Bank is dedicated to combating food waste and addressing food insecurity by collecting near-expiry food products from producers and distributors and redistributing them to a network of 200 non-governmental organizations across the Lesser Poland region. By rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste, the food bank provides essential support to vulnerable communities while reducing the environmental impact of food waste.
By rescuing over 2.9 million pounds of food and supporting 60,000 people in need, the Krakow Food Bank is creating long-term social and environmental impact. Our work reduces methane emissions, conserves natural resources, and strengthens local communities through a network of 200 NGOs. With continued support, we can expand this climate-smart, people-centered model to reach even more lives and reduce waste on a larger scale.
