Sexual Violence is a global pandemic which is normalized by many communities. In Kenya, many people subscribe to myths promoted by rape culture that encompasses a wide array of harmful practices that rob women and girls of their autonomy and rights. The project will Increase awareness and understanding around sexual violence prevention, manifestation and empowering both girls and boys to create culture of mutual respect in all communities in Kenya.
The project will equip every girl with experiential life skill training to be more aware, assertive and proactive in protecting themselves against sexual violence. We believe that survivors of sexual violence are the most powerful advocates against sexual violence and so listening to their voices throughout the design process is imperative. Therefore, the development and implementation of this project includes the expertise, ideas, and strategies of survivors of sexual violence for the survivors.
We recognizes that some communities have the inability to access concrete information about sexual violence our goal is to supply resources with more information. The project will be taught by trained Survivors themselves and facilitators in various communities including other survivors, teachers and youths groups those vulnerable to it and to other community leaders who after being trained they will disseminate the information to community with common goal to end the cycle of sexual violence.
