Climate change has precipitated an intense drought and water shortage in Africa, causing a significant disruption to the agricultural sector - the region’s primary industry. Agriculture not only generates considerable revenue for both domestic and private consumption but also contributes significantly to exports. The scarcity of water, however, has rendered farming unfeasible in many areas.
In 2023, our water project had to be temporarily shelved, resulting in minimal funds raised. The aftermath of COVID-19 necessitated an immediate shift in our focus towards our critical feeding program and reconstruction projects. It was indeed one of the most challenging years we’ve encountered.
However, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re reigniting this project in 2024. Over the next 3-6 months, we’ll be actively fundraising with a goal to raise $500. This amount will enable us to install a rainwater harvesting system that can provide clean water daily to a family of 6-8. At present, these families have to travel miles to a local well point to fill a bucket, which serves as their sole water source.
