Kidney disease is a silent killer in Nigeria, often detected too late, when treatment becomes expensive or impossible. This project will provide early kidney disease testing, prevention education, life-saving treatment support, and access to transplantation referrals for vulnerable adults and children. By bringing screening and care closer to underserved communities, we will save lives, reduce suffering, and give families hope for a healthier future.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) affects millions of Nigerians, yet most people are unaware of their condition until it reaches a critical stage. High costs of testing, limited dialysis centers, lack of awareness, and poor access to transplant pathways leave low-income families with few options. Many patients are diagnosed only when kidney failure has already occurred, forcing families to sell assets, withdraw children from school, or abandon treatment altogether.
This project will deliver a comprehensive kidney health response focused on prevention and early action in care: early kidney screening and diagnosis, prevention education on hypertension and diabetes, treatment and dialysis support for low-income patients, transplant counseling, and referral support. Without early detection and support, preventable deaths continue to rise.
Early detection and timely care will reduce preventable deaths, ease financial burdens on families, improve quality of life, and strengthen kidney health awareness in vulnerable communities.
