Yeryuzu Doktorlar Dernegi- YYD (Doctors Worldwide Turkiye) has been working on sustainable activities in response to the Syrian crisisSince 2018. Within this framework, it has established health centers in specific regions and started providing medical examinations, treatments, surgeries, distribution of medical supplies, and medication to those in need.
According to United Nations data, due to the internal conflict that began in 2011, the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance in Syria has reached 13 million. More than 6 million Syrians have been displaced, and approximately 3 million people are trying to survive in besieged areas. Constantly exposed to internal displacement, the population has very limited access to basic healthcare services due to the severe damage to the country's economy and infrastructure.
Yeryuzu Doktorlar Dernegi (YYD) has been providing health services in Syria since 2018 through the operation of three fixed clinics. All programme and operational activities are implemented using YYD's own local staff and institutional resources. Over 1.500.000 people have been examined, treated, and received medical supplies & medication support at the Soran, Cinderes and Suluk health centers established in the region, until now.
Tens of thousands of examinations, surgeries, nutritional treatment and delivery services will be added to existing services, thereby reducing preventable mortality cases and disease incidence among the population with limited access to health services.
