We are pleased to share that full construction activities at Antahovary Primary School were successfully completed in September 2025, marking a significant milestone in improving access to safe, resilient education infrastructure for children in the community. This achievement would not have been possible without the continued commitment and generosity of our supporters.
SEED’s construction team completed a fully furnished three-classroom school building with attached teacher accommodation, following the successful completion of latrine blocks in August 2025. The new facilities have been designed to provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment, supporting both students and teachers throughout the school year. The infrastructure was officially opened in early September, allowing the school to welcome pupils in time for the start of the new academic year.
A 10,000-litre rainwater harvesting system is fully operational and continues to supply clean running water to drinking points, handwashing stations, and the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) facility. This system plays a vital role in promoting hygiene, reducing water-borne disease risks, and supporting dignity and attendance for students, particularly girls.
As a result of these improvements, all 184 enrolled students can now attend lessons in a safe, well-equipped, and healthy environment. To further encourage positive behaviours, WASH-focused murals and behavioural nudges were installed across the school in August, reinforcing key hygiene messages in a child-friendly and engaging way.
In September, WASH education activities resumed and will continue throughout October and into November 2025, ensuring that infrastructure improvements are matched with sustained learning and behaviour change.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters and partners for making this transformation possible. Your continued support has enabled the successful completion of this project and is creating lasting positive change for students, teachers, and the wider Antahovary community.
