The Sekoly: Karinoro Primary School project continues to make steady progress, with significant developments across construction, furniture, and health education.
The first latrine block has now reached roof height, and the walls are being smoothed as part of the finishing work. The second block has completed all below-ground works, and the concrete floor is in place, providing safe and hygienic facilities for students. These improvements will help encourage regular attendance and support a healthier school environment.
The main school building, including attached teacher accommodation, has also reached roof height. Interior wall rendering has begun, and the next step will be installing concrete belting along the roof edges in preparation for the roof. When complete, this building will provide a secure learning environment for students and comfortable accommodation for teachers, helping to attract and retain staff.
Desk-bench components are being constructed by local carpenters in Fort Dauphin. Once transported to the school site, they will be assembled and finished, giving students proper classroom furniture while also supporting local livelihoods.
WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) education continues alongside construction, with students and teachers already completing lessons on handwashing and water treatment. These sessions help the school community maintain good health and make the most of the new facilities.
With roofing, furniture assembly, and finishing touches still ahead, the Sekoly Karinoro project is on track to make a difference in the lives of students and teachers. Thanks to donor support, tangible improvements in learning, health, and daily life for the students and teachers continue to take shape at the primary school and leave a lasting impact on the community.
