These past months have been especially meaningful for the families we serve through the AMA Program. AMA continues to grow as a safe space for emotional support, psychological care, and empowerment for vulnerable women, children, and older adults in Cuenca, and we are grateful to share what your support has made possible.
A psychologist with a true heart of gold
Much of this progress is thanks to Edwin, our psychologist. He is a professional of deep ethical commitment and genuine kindness who has earned the trust and affection of our beneficiaries. For many of the women and families we serve, trusting someone with their story is a big step, and Edwin has made AMA a place where they feel safe doing so.
More therapy for more people
We signed an agreement with the Universidad del Azuay that allows Edwin to supervise two psychology interns. As a result, AMA can now offer more therapy sessions and reach more people who need emotional support.
Covering essential medicines and urgent needs
AMA now also supports specific cases with essential medicines that allow people to live with dignity. This is funded in part by garage sales that Edwin organizes together with our interns and volunteers. Every item sold helps cover medicines and the specific needs of our beneficiaries.
Workshops that are changing lives
Through experiential workshops, group activities, and individual therapy, the program focused on strengthening self-esteem, mental health, emotional well-being, and family relationships.
We are seeing real results: healthier family dynamics, families learning to resolve their differences in healthier ways, and women changing their own reality and that of their children.
Individual psychological support addressed anxiety and depression, violence and traumatic experiences, self-esteem, family relationships, grief and loss, parenting and family bonding, and emotional regulation. Many participants showed significant progress in their well-being, autonomy, and quality of life, and several successfully completed their therapeutic processes.
Our grandmothers and grandfathers
Older adults in AMA now have access to emotional support and monthly social activities that help them feel part of the community, take their minds off their worries, and laugh together. Bingo afternoons and discussion circles have become events our grandparents look forward to all month.
Clothing for 161 families
At the end of August, AMA delivered clothing to 161 families, easing a real burden for households facing difficult economic situations.
Thank you
None of this would be possible without you. Your generosity allows AMA to offer care that is humane, holistic, and rooted in community, helping women, families, and older adults heal and build a more dignified and hopeful future. Thank you for walking alongside them.
With gratitude,
