The project overall goal to contribute a more secure, equitable and prosperous world by reducing poverty through youth and women participation in aquaculture so as to improve household food security. This will contribute to The project ultimate results will include, unlocking of jobs for women and youths in the district through aquaculture and agribusiness contributing to 1/- reduced poverty levels and sustained income .2/-improved safety and security.3/- increased revenue to the government
Despite its abundant resources, Widespread and extreme rural poverty and high unemployment levels has remained a significant challenges. Fifty four percent of the population live below the poverty line and 40.8% are considered to be in extreme poverty.Despite the role women and youth play in fishery resources value chains, they continue to face several constraints that limit their full participation aquaculture sector such as limited economic inclusiveness in fish Value chain and lack skills
if we train this women and empower them with necessary skills in aquaculture , will enable them to acquire necessary skills that will allow them to actively manage their fish ponds , able to process fish and increase there productivity . This will lead to improved nutrition and well being of their households, increase their participation in fish value chain thereby contributing to sustainable income and sustainable management of fishery resources .
