Dear Project of the Month Club,

The dog days of summer have arrived. We hope you're able to hit the beach one last time before the realities of back-to-school shopping set in. Thanks to Project of the Month gifts, many children in India and Uganda will be returning to some amazing schools in a few weeks!

In July, the 181 members of this club raised $5,784 for “Ensure Excellent Education for 105 Kids in India” run by Teach for India. Your gifts are ensuring that 35 students in Hyderabad get access to a hands-on education full of leadership activities to broaden their horizons. In the long run, Teach for India hopes to create a powerful network of of alumni who, influenced by their experiences in the classroom, will work towards enacting multi-sector solutions to India’s most difficult problems.

This month, you’ll be contributing to “Education & Support for 500 Children in Uganda” run by Tributaries International. Their project is funding meals and tuition for 500 students living in an urban slum on the outskirts of Kampala, Uganda. Sixty percent of the students don’t get regular meals at home and the cost of school supplies, uniforms and fees would otherwise keep them from getting an education.

Project leader Kay Helm was very excited to hear their project had been picked as August’s Project of the Month, and had this to say:

“[Your gifts] will cover costs for 80 primary school students at Calvary Primary School in Uganda, providing education, supplies, and daily meals. The timing is perfect, as we start the third term.”

So if you’re worried about being behind the curve on preparing for back-to-school, don’t be! It’s only the first week of August and you’ve already made it possible for 80 Ugandan school children to attend classes this year.

Looking forward to bringing to you more incredible stories from the field next month!

Warmly,

Mari and the GlobalGiving Team
