Project of the Month Update: September 2012

By Mari Kuraishi | President, Founder of GlobalGiving

Dear Project of the Month Club,

We’re pleased to share with you that last month, you and 137 other Project of the Month Club members raised $3,786 for "Plant 50,000 Walnut And Cherry Trees In Morocco," a project planting trees in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco.

Hilary White, the leader of this project, wanted to let you know that your donations will plant 7,000 fruit and nut saplings in a community-managed tree nursery, as well as pay to train representatives of each village to learn all aspects of successfully raising trees while helping run the nursery. The newly-trained tree cultivators will then return to their villages to share these skills to others.

For September's Project of the Month, we're pleased to introduce to you a project called "Give Trafficked Girls a New Future in Cambodia.

Athena Pond, Project Leader, wanted to share with you her message of appreciation upon learning that she was selected to participate in the Project of the Month Club:
"We are so honored to be selected as GlobalGiving's Project of the Month. It's an encouragement to our whole team to know you are joining with us in making dreams come true for some very deserving girls.

At Transitions we provide comprehensive restorative aftercare for girls rescued from sex trafficking. Each girl  receives personalized care to heal her past and provide opportunities for her future. A girl who finds her home at Transitions finds a new beginning. She finds hope, and with holistic trauma therapy, life skills and sustainable career training; she finds a dream for her future.  We help girls transition, through the power of a dream, from darkness to light, from victim to survivor, to world-changer."

We are so grateful for your support, and hope that you are proud to know that you are offering an opportunity for restoration and a safe, loving place to live for young survivors of sex trafficking.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity. Your support is having an earth-changing impact around the world.

Warm regards,
Mari and the GlobalGiving Team
